Don’t miss ‘Bang Up’ by Sarah Hehir on 8 August

Winner of the BBC Writer’s Prize 2013, Sarah Hehir’s radio play will be broadcast on 8 August at 2.15pm on Radio Four.

Of the drama ‘Bang Up’, Jeremy Howe (Commissioning Editor, BBC Radio 4 Drama), said, “Sarah Hehir charts the developing relationship between a young offender in a Kentish detention centre and his teacher. It is tough, warm, beautifully observed and written from the inside with real heart. It pulls you into the worlds of the two central characters in such a way that makes you really care for them both, and takes us on a surprising journey.”

Of being broadcast for the first time, Sarah said: “I love writing – the creativity, the puzzle, the challenge of weaving an interesting human story around and through bigger ideas. It was a new and exciting experience to be at the recording of ‘Bang Up’ and now I’m looking forward to the broadcast. Slightly nervous too!”

Sarah is also developing a short play for 17Percent’s new showcase event, which will premiere in September, further details will be posted soon.
