She Writes, 20 June, starts 7pm, The Horsebridge Centre

She Writes is 17Percent’s Whitstable-based, popular showcase of new playwriting by women. For our latest show, we are happy to present a selection of new short plays entitled ‘Lucky Dip’.

The show will feature 8 plays; Claire Booker – Lost Property / Sue Donaldson – Life after life / Alice Gregg – Not the allotment / Lucy Kaufman – Sexbomb (extract) / Elinor Perry-Smith – Crumble / Helen Shay – Taste / Sarah Davies – Risk Assessment / Katharine Markwick – Fish n chips.

She Writes brings women’s playwriting to a bigger audience and shows that women’s writing is as diverse, funny, touching, unexpected, and lyrical, as are women themselves. We chose these eight plays as they are all a lot of fun and showcase a range of styles and topics. One of the things that women’s writing is often accused of is being ‘domestic’; we hope these eight varied pieces will show that’s very far from the truth.

Along with the plays there will also be lucky dip sweets and a raffle with a prize of short stories as it is also International Short Story Day!
