Writing for the iPod generation – Soho theatre, 28 Sept 09

A very fascinating day’s workshop about working with sound, led by Duncan Speakman. It has really got me thinking about what constitutes performance and what theatre is. Is it theatre if it’s not in a theatre? Is it a play if there are no actors? Are you the audience or the actor if you’re the only one experiencing the piece? And what do you call this type of theatre – an event / a happening / a soundscape / a sound walk / a mobile performance? And what do you call its creator – a sound artist / a writer / a director / a playwright / a filmmaker making films in your head?

Like the genre itself, the possibilities seem endless…
